Today, we’re releasing three new tools for both #ParallelsToolbox for #Mac and Parallels Toolbox for #Windows. We’re very proud to introduce these that make working on your PC or Mac even easier. We’re very proud to introduce these that make working on your PC or Mac even easier. I have tried updating Mac (os 10.5.8) and my current version of Parallels is the latest, but still can not access parallels. Still get the same message as below: Your virtual machine may run slow because virtualization support is disabled on your Mac.
Parallels 14 is definitely faster to launch and more slimline than previous versions. The improved Touch Bar support for Windows apps also makes it more convenient to use major Windows apps on Mac.
- Faster to launch and use
- Touch Bar ready for Windows apps
- Requires less hard drive space
- No DirectX 13 support for games

Parallels is still the best way to run Windows on a Mac simultaneously and the latest version of Parallels 14 has just been released.
Parallels allows you to conveniently run all those Windows only applications and games that don’t run on Mac. Buy parallels for mac.
Here we’ve taken a first look at the new macOS Mojave ready version of Parallels.
In a nutshell, here’s what’s new and what we like in Parallels 14.
- The biggest improvement we’ve noticed with Parallels 14 is speed. One of our biggest gripes with Parallels has always been the amount of time it takes to open but Parallels 14 launches Windows noticeably faster. Parallels claims it opens “four times faster” than Parallels 13 and while it doesn’t quite feel that fast, it’s a big improvement. While using Windows, it also feels a bit snappier than before with less lag when using big apps or games.
- Parallels takes up less space on your hard drive than previous versions. It now takes up to around 20GB less space which is a significant saving. However, this mainly applies to Windows 10 installs – the savings for other versions of Windows are a lot less.
- Parallels 14 is optimized for macOS Mojave. Parallels usually release a new version with every new version of macOS and it’s guaranteed to work with Mojave. Mojave hasn’t been released quite yet but you can test the Public Beta version of Mojave in Parallels if you want to give it a spin.
- Touch Bar support has been enhanced from the previous version. There are now pre-configured Touch Bar shortcuts for Windows software like OneNote and Quicken and you can still customize Touch Bar controls for any app you like.
- If you use a drawing tablet with your Mac, you can now use Microsoft Ink with pressure sensitive support to edit Windows Office documents on Mac. This works with Windows apps such as PowerPoint, CorelDRAW and Photoshop.
Some of the other highlights worth mentioning include:
- Dark mode can be used in Windows applications
- The new enhanced Quick Look and Screenshot features can be used in Windows
- Camera Continuity imports pictures from iOS 12 into Windows
- Graphics Support has been improved for OpenGL
- Unused virtual video memory is now used by macOS for smoother and faster operation when running Parallels
- 4K video cameras are now supported for video conferencing
There are also specific improvements to Parallels Desktop Business edition the most notable being automatic Smart Card reader availability in macOS and Windows.
On the downside:
- There’s still no support for DirectX 13 that would allow users to play games like FIFA on Mac.
- Many of the biggest 3D performance improvements are only for the latest iMac Pros so won’t be of much use to the vast majority of Mac users that have iMacs and MacBooks. This will mainly benefit those that use graphics heavy 3D modelling apps such as CAD applications on Mac.
Parallels pricing remains that same as before depending on which version you need.
As an incentive, Parallels are also offering Parallels Toolbox for free with new purchases of Parallels 14.
You can also try a free trial of Parallels 14 to test it for yourself.

Symptoms
- No internet connection in Windows, however internet is accessible on the Mac side.
- Internet connection is low or unstable.
- Issues with network dependent software even though the internet in Windows is working fine.
- Other home network computers are not reachable.
Cause
- Network settings misconfiguration in Windows.
- 3rd party applications or antivirus software are blocking network connection.
- Virtual machine's settings misconfiguration.
- Corrupted Windows environment.
Resolution
- Make sure your Mac is connected to the internet, Windows will not be able to access the internet if it's disconnected or inaccessible on the Mac side.
- Before going any further please take a snapshot (Actions > Take Snapshot) to be able to revert back to a pre-troubleshooting point.
- Reinstall Parallels Tools.
- Perform clean boot in Windows by disabling 3rd party applications' services including 3rd party antivirus software which may have a negative impact on a network driver's installation.
NOTE: in step 3 keep both Parallels Tools services enabled. - Go to the virtual machine's configuration > Hardware > Source > Shared Network (Recommended) option should be set by default.
If you have already got Shared network set but still experience network issues in Windows switch it to Bridged Network: Default Adapter and verify if the internet is working in any of these modes.
If this helped and internet connection restored, enable all services back one-by-one to identify the problematic 3rd party application.
If internet is accessible in one of the modes - either Shared or Bridged but having a different connection type set doesn't suit your needs, proceed to additional troubleshooting. - Open Command Prompt in Windows by clicking on Start menu and typing in cmd in Search field, then hit Enter.
Try to ping any Parallels server by entering the following command:ping parallels.com
A normal output looks somewhat like this:Reply from 64.131.89.6: bytes=32 time=188ms TTL=54
Reply from 64.131.89.6: bytes=32 time=187ms TTL=54
If you get the following reply:Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Reset Windows TCP/IP protocol using the following commands:netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset reset.log
Then close Command Prompt window and restart Windows.
If after Windows restart internet is not working, open Command Prompt again, release and renew IP address by entering the commands below:ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
- If setting neither Shared nor Bridged type or releasing and renewing IP address helped and there is still no internet connection in Windows.
Open Device Manager in Windows by clicking on Start menu and typing in devmgmt in Search field, then hit Enter.
In Device Manager go to Network adapters tab and expand it. Check the network adapter's name which should be one the following ones:
Intel® PRO/1000 MT
Intel® Gigabit CT (82574L)
Realtek RTL8029AS
If you see any other name (e.g. Ethernet Controller) or the adapter has an exclamation mark > right click it > choose Uninstall device, then install Parallels Tools again (Actions > Reinstall Parallels Tools). - If none of the above helped, scan your system for integrity violations.
- When the issue is resolved remove the snapshot taken in step 2 by going to Actions > Manage Snapshots > choosing the snapshot > pressing Delete > Yes.
